Jim Becker

Jim Becker, the owner and founder of Becker Logistics, hails from Chicago. He attended Lake Park High School and later studied computer programming at College of DuPage. Jim furthered his education at Northwestern University, focusing on leadership and organizational behavior, and earned additional credentials in mergers and acquisitions from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

In 1999, Jim met his future wife, and they married in 2004. They started their family in 2007, welcoming three daughters: Sydnie, Brooke, and Jenna. Tragically, in 2009, they lost Jenna at the age of two, a devastating blow that left Jim struggling with fear and despair. Determined to honor his family and rebuild his life, Jim committed himself to making Becker Logistics a thriving success.
To fulfill this promise, Jim dedicated himself to hiring talented individuals and driving the company forward. This relentless effort paid off, with Becker Logistics growing its sales revenue from $3.5 million in 2009 to $176 million in 2022—a remarkable 49-fold increase over 13 years.
Under Jim’s leadership, the company became one of the top 100 3PL companies in the country. Despite a challenging market from August 2022 to April 2023, the company projected a modest revenue decline of 15%, estimating around $150 million for 2023.
When asked how he managed to limit the revenue loss, Jim explained, “I scrutinized where I was falling short in my commitments and accountability with my team. Together, we identified the gaps and implemented processes to address internal deflation. I credit our team’s collective effort and our employees’ and customers’ support. Having multiple perspectives on the problem was crucial, as I am human and prone to oversight.”
